The Growth You Are Sitting On: People Who Already Know You

Most people who land on your site are not ready to buy today. That is normal. The question is whether they have any way to hear from you when they are.

Most growth advice points one direction. Outward. More traffic, more ads, more new names. So that is where the money and the effort go, chasing people who have never heard of you.

Here is what that misses. On any given day, most of the people looking at your business are interested but not ready. Wrong month, wrong budget, still comparing. They are not a lost cause. They are just early.

If there is no visible way for those people to stay in touch, they leave and you never hear from them again. Then you pay to find the same person a second time.

The people who already know you are the cheapest growth you will ever get.

Why this is your strongest lever

A stranger has to be found, then convinced you are real, then convinced you are worth it, then convinced to act. That is four walls to climb, and you pay for every one.

Someone who already found you and liked what they saw has climbed the first two. You do not have to pay to find them again, and you do not have to prove you are real a second time. Staying in touch with them is not a climb, it is a tap on the shoulder. Same revenue, a fraction of the cost and the effort.

This is the strengths idea again. You are not missing a skill. You are sitting on a strength, a stream of people who already came looking, and letting it run past you.

Two groups worth catching

Both groups cost you almost nothing to reach. Both are warmer than any stranger an ad could find.

There is a third group, and it is worth naming honestly: the customers you have already served. Bringing them back is real growth and often the cheapest of all. It is also the one part of this a website scan cannot see, because it happens in your inbox, your phone and your relationships. Your Quick Wins Map will never score you on it. That one is yours to run.

The simple follow-up path most skip

You do not need a complicated system. You need one path, set up once, so nobody who was interested has to leave empty-handed.

  1. Give them one clear reason to stay in touch. Not "subscribe to our newsletter". Something worth an email address: the thing your buyers always ask before they commit, answered properly. One useful thing beats a signup box every time.
  2. Put it where people actually look. On the pages buyers read before they decide, not buried in the footer. If nobody sees it, it is not capture.
  3. Set up a simple follow-up once. A short, friendly sequence that goes out automatically to new buyers and new enquiries from here on. Do it one time and it keeps working in the background, forever.

That last step is the quiet winner. A little setup now turns every future visitor into a relationship instead of a one-off. Low effort, high reward, and it compounds.

Keep chasing new attention too. Just stop letting the interest you already earned walk out the door while you do it. And when those people do become customers, the natural next move is to ask the happy ones for a review, so their goodwill works for you in public as well.
